Volunteers

We are always looking for volunteers to help out at the track. Want to do something for kids in Napa? Want to keep busy while your child or family member rides or races? Just see a staff member and ask how you can help. We'd love to get you involved at whatever level you're comfortable with. We won't survive without volunteers.

A big loss to our local BMX community...

R.I.P. Matthew Avila. Please keep Matthew and his family in your thoughts and prayers. We will truly miss this wonderful guy.

Matthew Avila came to North Bay BMX not long after we opened in 2006. Along with Matthew came Angela, seen here with her "steady date" Matthew, and son Jacob who turned out to be quite a BMX racer. The snack bar position kind of just found Matthew. It's a spot where we needed some help and Matthew just stepped up to the plate and started swinging. He eventually streamlined the operation and made it his own special way of giving back to the community at large. Matthew took on the responsibility of creating the menu, getting a fridge donated, and doing the weekly shopping for the supplies we needed. He also helped at every work party we had. He would run the weed whacker, rake and water the track, and make sure volunteers got fed too. No one had to ask him to do it. No one had to plead or prod him. He just got it all done. Week after week, month after month, and year after year. And he did it all with a smile and a desire to help everyone and make people happy. What more could anyone ask for? This guy set the bar at a height that all volunteers should hope to achieve. Needless to say, we probably wouldn't be where we are today without Matthew Avila. We really do miss this guy. Not just for what he did at the track, but for the person he was. The world needs more people like Matthew, that's for sure...
